As more and more investors head back to that commercial district, the value of real estate in downtown Kingston, Jamaica, has reportedly started to increase. Prime Minister Bruce Golding recently told
The Gleaner that he has seen examples that suggest that the price of real estate in downtown Kingston has more than doubled in the last two years. Golding, whose west Kingston constituency constitutes a sizeable portion of downtown Kingston, believes that after years of neglect and decline, the rebirth of the area is long overdue.
He told The Gleaner that he believes downtown Kingston can be transformed to rival commercial districts worldwide, and the Government is prepared to work with the private sector to make this a reality.
