Low turnover creates real estate deals for buyers

The current build up of residential real estate in Jamaica is creating a buyers market. Talking to the Jamaica Observer's Sunday Finance, Andrew Issa, managing director of Coldwell Banker Jamaica, stated that "there are some good opportunities for those who have the cash to take advantage. If buyers want to get a good deal, now is the time."

President of Realtors Limited, Don Glanville, who has been in the real estate business for 38 years, notes that  it is now taking anywhere from four to eight months from the time a property is listed to the time it is disposed of, representing a doubling of the disposable period. Earl Jarrett, general manager of Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS) stated that "buyers are in a good position to negotiate because sellers are more prepared to be flexible with their negotiations."
